Le Lapérouse’s third visit of 2026 to Warrenpoint last Saturday brought the curtain down on a successful cruise season which welcomed more than 1,000 passengers to the town.
Warrenpoint Port hosted four flagship vessels throughout the summer for a total of six cruise calls, with the Lapérouse also visiting in April and the beginning of May.
Among the other vessels to berth were L’Austral, Le Lyrial and SeaDream II, bringing a combined total of 1,000+ tourists, mainly from North America and Europe to the shores of south Down.
Reflecting on this year’s cruise schedule, David Holmes, Chief Executive of Warrenpoint Harbour Authority, said: “Welcoming Le Lapérouse back into the natural gateway of Carlingford Lough proved a fitting finale for what was another exciting year of cruise activity here in Warrenpoint.
“Working collaboratively with Excursions Ireland, the Newry, Mourne and Down Council and the Warrenpoint Burren and Rostrevor Chamber of Commerce, the Port team ensured every cruise call helped showcase Warrenpoint and the surrounding area to a range of international visitors.
“More than another port of call, Warrenpoint always extends a warm welcome and offers visitors easy access to some of the island of Ireland’s most iconic attractions.
This year’s season once again demonstrated the appeal of Warrenpoint and the value of partnership working in delivering a positive experience for international visitors to the town.”
