NIE Networks has become the 12th company in Northern Ireland to achieve Investors in People Platinum status, joining just 6% of accredited companies worldwide.
Investors in People is the standard for people management working with organisations of all sizes for over 30 years. They have accredited more than 50,000 organisations across 66 countries around the world.
NIE Networks is the owner of the electricity transmission and distribution networks in Northern Ireland, transporting electricity to around 910,000 homes, farms and businesses. It has approximately 1500 employees and anticipates making an investment of £4bn to Northern Ireland over the next decade as it upgrades its network to enable a net zero future.
Derek Hynes, Managing Director, NIE Networks commented: “NIE Networks is only the 12th company in Northern Ireland to achieve this award which is a tremendous achievement and cements NIE Networks as an employer of choice in Northern Ireland. It is gratifying to note the IIP Assessors recognition of a culture which is open, honest and supportive, allowing people to feel valued, respected and motivated. That certainly aligns with my experience and, as we move into the next Regulatory Price Control period, RP7, it gives me great confidence that we have the right people and environment to deliver for the people of Northern Ireland.”
At the heart of the IIP assessment is the voice of employees who get the chance to share their thoughts, feelings and opinions, as well as the maturity of people management and development practices, strategies and plans. Platinum is the highest accreditation available demonstrating that leaders take accountability for delivering consistently positive results, with an eye on improvement and the future.
Paul Devoy, Chief Executive, Investors in People said:
“The leadership team at NIE Networks have demonstrated a long-term commitment to investing in their people. This Platinum accreditation is richly deserved as they have systematically improved their people management practices year on year. It is an exceptional achievement by everyone in NIE Networks; they now join an elite group of Platinum clients.”
The IIP Assessors judged NIE Networks to have leaders and people who take accountability for delivering consistently positive results and an unwavering commitment to employees’ health, safety and wellbeing.
Eddie Salmon, Investors in People Assessor, commented:
“This Platinum Accreditation for NIE Networks is a clear demonstration of progress, hard work, perseverance, and commitment. It is recognition of continued focus on building a vibrant people-centric culture, characterised by high levels of employee engagement, team collaboration and a shared sense of purpose for the future. This accreditation is a testament to everyone in NIE Networks because it is the people who make the culture what it is. Congratulations!”
