Leslie Hughes Charity Gala Raises Funds For Cancer Fund For Children

A Night of Stars at Studio 54 Gala Ball took place recently at the Culloden Estate and Spa to raise vital funds in aid of Cancer Fund for Children, a charity that empowers, connects and strengthens children, young people and families impacted by cancer.

This special evening was organised by Founder of Hughes Insurance, Leslie Hughes OBE, who was supported by event sponsors Kris Turnbull Studios, the A.R.N Foundation and We’re Sure Insurance. The event was attended by over 350 Black Tie guests, including many local business leaders. Also in attendance was Cancer Fund for Children’s Young Ambassador, Lucy (13) who spoke passionately about her own experience of being impacted by cancer.

Leslie Hughes OBE has been a passionate supporter of Cancer Fund for Children for many years, a charity that provides emotional, social and therapeutic support at home, in hospital and at their short break centre, Daisy Lodge in Newcastle, Co. Down. Since he began fundraising in 2014, Leslie has helped to raise over £500,000 so that this charity can be there for families when they need them most. The money raised through this recent event brings his fundraising total to over £500,000.

Speaking about the event, Leslie said:

I have always been a huge admirer of Cancer Fund for Children, from their earliest days and have proudly watched them grow into an island of Ireland charity that is truly able to ensure that no child in Ireland faces cancer alone. As they are on the threshold of opening their next Daisy Lodge in Co Mayo it’s important that we continue to support their first Daisy Lodge in Co Down to allow them to continue to deliver the incredible support that they give so willingly to so many families in Northern Ireland every year.

Speaking on this support, CEO of Cancer Fund for Children, Phil Alexander said:

“We are so incredibly grateful to Leslie for his commitment to philanthropy and making a difference. Every week in NI, approximately three children and young people (aged 0-24) are diagnosed with cancer. Leslie’s generosity, passion and dedication have helped Cancer Fund for Children to be there for these children and their families, so they don’t have to face their experience alone. We want to say a huge thanks to Leslie for everything that he does, as well as to everyone who helped make his most recent event such a phenomenal success.”
