Post Office Celebrates Henderson Retail Partnership

Post Office welcomed Henderson Retail to its London office recenty to celebrate their 12-year partnership and discuss future growth opportunities.

Henderson Retail operates an independent chain of 110 community supermarkets and convenience stores under the SPAR and EUROSPAR brands across Northern Ireland. The company’s estate also includes 74 post offices which serve over 4 million customers each year.

Post Office operates c. 480 branches in Northern Ireland, making Henderson Retail a much-valued partner. The company’s post offices support communities by making it possible for people to pay their bills, withdraw cash, and send mails and parcels at sites which are convenient for them.

Abigail Mcgeever, Strategic Partnerships Director at Post Office, said: “Henderson Retail is a fantastic partner for Post Office in Northern Ireland. The company’s branches offer crucial Post Office services to millions of customers and the team’s visit to our London office was an excellent opportunity to discuss the future growth of our partnership”.

Henderson Retail began operating just four post offices in 2013 and has since grown to offer 74 post offices in 12 years. They have been crowned Post Office’s ‘Strategic Partner of the Year’ for two consecutive years.

Jan Young, Post Office Commercial Manager from Henderson Retail said: “Offering Post Office services is a key part of our overall proposition. We understand how important they are to our shoppers and neighbours, and with opening hours of 8am – 8pm, 7 days a week, we are proud to support our local communities in this very tangible way”.

Alongside Henderson Retail, Post Office has strategic partnerships with over 25 retail organisations like WHSmith, Morrisons, Co-op, Tesco and One Stop to operate over 1,800 branches across the UK.

These relationships are key to the Post Office network now and into the future. They are set against the backdrop of Post Office’s five-year Transformation Plan, which will deliver a ‘new deal’ for postmasters and strategic partners, like Henderson Retail, through increased remuneration and revenue sharing and strengthening their role in the running of the organisation.
