Centra Hosts Tenth Anniversary Run Together At Ormeau Park

Local convenience retailer Centra hosted its sold out tenth anniversary Run Together event at Ormeau Park on Sunday.

The event which has been ‘Making a Difference for a Decade’ in support of its charity parter Action Cancer, saw 2,000 people register across the 5K and 10K runs and turn out to Ormeau Park on a sunny autumn morning. With all registration fees donated to Action Cancer, alongside participants’ fundraising efforts, an incredible £50,000 has been raised.

These funds will help keep Action Cancer’s mobile detection unit, the Big Bus on the road delivering its free life-saving services to communities across Northern Ireland, including breast screening, health checks and skin cancer detection.

Centra was delighted to welcome both the Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Róis-Máire Donnelly who got the 10K race underway, and Health Minister Robbie Butler MLA who sounded the horn for the 5K before taking part.

Centra brand manager Jennifer Morton said: “This year’s Centra Run Together was particularly special as we celebrated Making a Difference for a Decade – and 10 years of an event that has become such an important part of our community calendar.

“People of all ages and abilities came together to support Action Cancer, and that sense of community is what continues to make it so unique.

“A huge thank you to everyone who took part, helping to raise an incredible amount of money for our charity partner Action Cancer, to the Lord Mayor of Belfast Councillor Donnelly and Health Minister Robbie Butler MLA who lent their support, and to all our event sponsors, suppliers, organisers and marshals for making the event a fantastic experience for everyone.”

Every participant received a Centra Run Together t-shirt, medal, goodie bag, lunch and samples thanks to event sponsors and suppliers. Centra brand ambassador Pete Snodden hosted and took part in the 5K after a warmup by fitness coach Bubba Ali.
