Thorntons new Belfast city centre store will open its doors on Thursday, 5th March at Arthur Square. The opening will be part of the chocolate and confectionery retailer’s exciting new stores that have been rolling out across the UK, as part of the firm’s focus on bringing their heritage in chocolate to life as a unique retail experience.

The store will include a wide range of famous Thorntons confectionery including the Classic and Continental collections, a Craftery where customers can create their own personalised chocolate box, a personalisation station where customers can have messages hand iced on a range of delicious products and a chocolate block flavour library.

The new Belfast store also includes a café that celebrates sweet treats, including an afternoon tea for two with a chocolate fondue, a selection of cakes and hot chocolate.

Sarah Ingram, Retail Director of Thorntons, said: “Bringing our new store to Belfast is an exciting moment for Thorntons. It gives us the opportunity to Pass the love on to local residents and showcase everything we have to offer from our famous range of chocolates to our ever-evolving experiences including our “Create Your Own” craftery and personalisation station. We look forward to welcoming Belfast residents to the new store to experience the very best of Thorntons.”

Thorntons has over 100 years’ experience in confectionery – starting its journey in Sheffield in 1911 where Joseph Thornton had the clear ambition to make his shop “the best sweet shop in town”.  Thorntons then grew its experience and knowledge around confectionery craftsmanship with the introduction of Easter Eggs in 1922, a unique toffee recipe in 1924 and the launch of Thorntons Continental in 1954.

The company was acquired in 2015 by Ferrero, the third-largest player in the global sweet packaged foods market.
