Belfast’s newest culinary gem, Stove Bistro, headed up by Simon Toye and Simon McCance (Ginger), is celebrating one year in business with the launch of Stove Seafood Month and two awards short-listings.   The two Simons – Toye former Executive Chef at Deanes, and McCance, owner of Ginger Bistro – have quickly firmly established Stove Bistro as one of the City’s top eateries in the heart of one of the city’s burgeoning places for food and drink.

The duo’s excellence has already been recognised with the shortlisting for two prestigious awards; ‘Best Eatery/Coffee Shop’ category in Belfast Chamber Business Awards with Simon Toye being recognised in the Best Chef in Ulster in the Food and Wine Restaurant of the Year Awards 2021 which will take place in the Great Room at Dublin’s Shelbourne Hotel, in November.

The upstairs, well-spaced, clean-wood restaurant, on the Ormeau Road, has fast become renowned for its fantastic local seafood, delectable meat dishes as well as an exceptional vegan and vegetarian offering.

October will see them celebrate all things seafood, with a special menu featuring a broad range of locally, responsibly caught local fish and shellfish from our local waters. Saturday lunchtime will also feature a special menu and live acoustic music from 1pm to 3pm.

The dynamic duo launched the restaurant in the midst of the Pandemic, and despite all the challenges, they haven’t looked back.

Simon Toye, former Executive Chef at Deanes said: “This weekend marks our first birthday and one which we are very proud to celebrate.

“Despite all challenges we have come a long way in a short period of time. Our overall aim was to create a community bistro in the city which was casual but known for exceptional food and drink.

“Every effort has been made to make that a reality and I am so grateful to our fantastic team and our loyal customers for supporting us over the past 12 months.

“We are particularly proud to be shortlisted in the Food and Wine Restaurant of the Year Awards 2021, we are in great company alongside Ireland’s most well-respected restaurants and chefs.’

“We now look forward to a busy October serving some of our most popular seafood specials as well as a few new recipes which we have been busy perfecting.

Simon Toye concluded: “We welcome anyone with a love for Seafood to come along and try us out this Autumn. We also have a full menu for meat lovers, vegetarian and vegan. So there is something for everyone.”

Stove Bistro is located at 455 Ormeau Rd, Belfast BT7 3GQ, and is open Wednesday to Saturday each week. For bookings call the reservation line daily, from 3pm 028 9064 7744.
