One of Belfast’s most iconic boutique hotels is to create up to 20 new jobs in preparation for its post lockdown re-opening. The Malone Lodge, located in Eglantine Avenue between the Lisburn and Malone Roads confirmed today it will re-open for business on 9th June.

The new jobs will comprise a range of operational roles including reception, housekeeping, bar and restaurant staff as well as events.

The hotel, which this year marks its 30th anniversary, has also revealed plans for a major multi-phased refurbishment programme and re-brand underpinned by “significant” investment.

General Manager Suzi McIlhatton said this year would mark the beginning of a new era for the boutique hotel which has been in business since 1991 and is now in the hands of a new senior management team of herself and Operations Manager, Chris Kilpatrick.

“The owners recently disposed of a number of our apartments to focus on delivering a best-in-class hospitality experience. We have big plans to rejuvenate the whole business from top to bottom. We have been conscious for some time of the need to re-position our offering and update our brand. Our new offering will play very much to our proud Belfast heritage with excellent food, beverage and exemplary customer service as cornerstones. We believe our new brand will be perfectly suited to the new, confident Belfast and will appeal to locals who perhaps want to enjoy a meal or drink as part of an evening out as well as businesspeople desiring somewhere discreet to meet, or the city break guest seeking a location that’s on the fringe of the city with the added advantage of free car parking.”

Suzi McIlhatton says guests will see a host of physical and other changes including a major refurbishment of the newly named Greyhound Bar and Gallery Restaurant as part of an overall offering befitting a luxury, boutique, stylish hotel.

“One of the key factors in our recruitment drive is the fact that we want to ensure our guests enjoy an enhanced service experience when they come here. We’re delighted the owners see the importance of this as it’s critical as far as our new brand positioning is concerned. The re-designing of our bar and restaurant, together with some soft alterations to several of our rooms represents the first phase of a multi-phase refurbishment programme that will transform the hotel. Everyone within our team is really looking forward to welcoming our guests back for what will be a totally new experience.”
