It takes more than expensive player signings to make a successful professional football club.  Creating a high-performance culture is key.

FC Barcelona is one of the most successful sports clubs in the world.  What makes it unique is a culture that has delivered sustained success.

FC Barcelona’s winning culture has been studied in-depth by Professor Damien Hughes, Professor of Organisational Psychology and Change, who identified that the winning culture at the heart of FC Barcelona is how they deal with people as well as the care and attention given to the environment in which those people are nurtured.

Professor Hughes will be in Belfast on the 30th January at an event presented by Podiem and supported by Electric Ireland, to share stories and lessons from his best-selling book, The Barcelona Way, in which he demystifies the culture building process and provides lessons that can be applied to any club regardless of its size or sport.

Kevin Kelly of Podiem who is pictured with Anne Smyth, Northern Ireland Sponsorship lead at Electric Ireland, commented: “This is an event which will be of interest to club coaches, managers, chairs, secretaries, committee members and senior players.  Professor Hughes is a big name in sporting circles and among others has worked with Tiger Woods, Sir Richard Branson, Sir Alex Ferguson and the late Muhammad Ali.  He is hugely interesting and we would encourage anyone who is serious about sporting success at any level to come along to the Belfast Campus of the Ulster University on the 30th to hear what he has to say.

Tickets for the event can be booked at https://barcelonaway.eventbrite.co.uk
