Top Blade Launches New Concept On North Coast

One of Northern Ireland’s most recognisable homegrown hospitality brands, Top Blade, has unveiled a new concept at its Portrush restaurant, introducing what is believed to be the region’s first-ever “Steakaway”.

The new offering allows customers to enjoy Top Blade’s signature experience from the comfort of their own homes, marking the latest evolution for the fast-growing brand.

The idea was born out of changing customer habits on the North Coast, where a growing number of visitors choose to stay in holiday homes, apartments and short-term rentals, often looking for high-quality food without the need to dine out.

Peter Rainey, Manager of Top Blade Portrush, explains:

“Our customers often commented that they loved the food but didn’t always want to head out in the evening after a long day exploring the coast. The Steakaway is our way of bringing Top Blade to their homes without compromising on quality.”

Unlike traditional takeaway options, the Steakaway has been carefully developed to reflect Top Blade’s iconic offering. Customers can expect a specially curated menu that features some of the restaurants dishes, but more reflects a new style of food, less about traditional steakhouse fayre and more about a collection of new signature dishes such as steak frites, steak sarnies with dipping sauces, steak pie, wings and even wood fired Pizza’s that have made a name for themselves in the Portrush location.

The launch reflects the continued growth of Top Blade, which serves approximately 100,000 steaks annually across Northern Ireland and employs around 60 people.

Since opening in Portrush in 2025, the brand has quickly established itself as part of the fabric of the area’s evolving food scene, a transformation that Director, Aaron Taggart believes is only just beginning.

“The North Coast has always been a special place, and the food offering has really come into its own over the past few years. There’s a real appetite for quality dining, whether that’s eating out or, in this case, enjoying something delicious at home. There truly is something for everyone across the North Coast and I hope that this concept brings another exciting addition to those existing options.”

The Steakaway has been designed to complement, rather than replace, the in-restaurant experience and offers an additional way for customers to engage with the brand.

“It’s about flexibility,” Aaron adds. “If it’s a wagyu or a fillet steak with all the trimmings and a glass of red, well, then you’ll have to come along and join us in the restaurant, but if you want to kick back in your pajamas in front of the fire and can’t be bothered cooking, then we’ve got you covered, you can still  enjoy the Top Blade experience.”
