Award-winning East Belfast pizza slice shop Flout! – the internet sensation that blends serious technique, top-tier Northern Irish ingredients and an unapologetic creative edge – is travelling across the Irish Sea for two nights only in an exclusive collaboration with the iconic Kimpton Fitzroy London.
On Sunday 30 November and Monday 1 December, the hotel’s Palm Court will be transformed for a two-night pizza takeover, where Flout!’s Belfast craic will meet Bloomsbury elegance. Guests can expect the unmistakable crackle of 168-hour fermented sourdough, dough milled in-house in East Belfast and baked in portable ovens the team is transporting from Northern Ireland – a full slice shop squeezed into a campervan.
Kimpton Fitzroy London provides the perfect setting for a slice of the unexpected. Famously designed by the renowned Charles Fitzroy Doll in the 1890s, the man behind the first-class dining room on the RMS Titanic, the hotel has always been synonymous with unique hospitality and a pioneering spirit. Hosting Flout! continues Kimpton Fitzroy London’s tradition of curating memorable, character-filled guest experiences.
For Flout!, it’s another major milestone in its run of international recognition: following last year’s sell out collaboration with Lucia Pizza in New York and a “Best in Ireland” three-year streak, London is the next city to get a taste of Belfast’s finest food export. And for founder Peter Thompson, the significance of bringing Flout! to Kimpton Fitzroy London isn’t lost on him.
He said: “Taking Flout! London is huge for us. We’re literally bringing Belfast with us – the ovens, the flour we mill ourselves, and ingredients from producers we love: Mike’s Fancy Cheese ‘Young Buck’, Peter Hannan’s chilli and fennel sausage, Johnny Cuddy’s Ispini pepperoni. When I started serving slices in the streets where shipyard workers once lived, I never imagined we’d be serving in one of London’s finest hotels. Kimpton Fitzroy London is pure luxury – and we’re rolling in with hot oil, Tayto crumbs and enough pepperoni to bankrupt us. And it’s walk-in only because we want to do this properly. We can only make what the ovens can handle, and that’s part of the fun – it keeps it real, and it keeps it Belfast.”
The menu will feature Flout! cult favourites including the Bankrupt Pepperoni, the Tayto Pie powered by cheese-and-onion crisps, a focaccia slice with ‘Young Buck’, fresh pear and mulled honey, and – in honour of a Kimpton Fitzroy London icon – ‘Lucky George’s’ hot and spicy vodka soup, inspired by the bronze statue that lives on the second floor of the hotel (its twin was commissioned to sit onboard the RMS Titanic).
Drinks have been created exclusively by the Fitz’s Bar team at Kimpton Fitzroy London and will be equally playful, from a Teremana Frozen Margarita to Flout!’s Belfast Coffee; a poitín-powered twist on the classic.
Garreth Walsh, General Manager of Kimpton Fitzroy London, said: “Kimpton Fitzroy London has always championed creativity, craft, and character, and Flout! embodies all three. Their playful take on flavour and devoted cult following make this collaboration especially exciting for our guests and our team. We’re delighted to introduce an experience unlike anything else in London this season, offering both guests and locals something genuinely fresh and unique to the hotel, for two-nights only.”
The Flout! x Kimpton Fitzroy London takeover takes place on Sunday 30 November and Monday 1 December from 6pm in the Palm Court. It is walk-in only, on a first come first served basis for hotel guests and the public alike, and available for two nights only.
