Ulster University Business School and Marvel Marketers have taken positive action to address the digital skills gap recently exacerbated by the COVID situation by introducing a range of new online digital marketing courses. The School has teamed up with award-winning global marketing agency Marvel Marketers to provide students and businesses with access to in-demand digital knowledge and skills through a series of bootcamp courses throughout August and September.

Dr Andrea Reid, Senior Lecturer at Ulster University Business School, explains, “Prior to the COVID pandemic a recent CBI report indicated that 95% of businesses expected their digital needs to increase in the next 3-5 years. At the same time two thirds of companies were already experiencing digital shortages. Over the past 3 months this skills gap has been further highlighted by individuals working remotely and companies having to move more online.”

“Recognising the increased urgency of this specialised training we ran a pilot boot camp in March for 80 participants. Such was its success that we have now rolled out a programme of online courses over the next 3 months with over 200 registrations recorded for the first boot camp in July.”

The courses cover Digital Transformation, Automation, Digital Strategies and Insights and are open to students, alumni, and the wider business community. Course partners Marvel Marketers is a leading global market agency which recently won a number of awards at the prestigious American “Stevie Awards” for business including the Entrepreneur of the Year title for its CEO Maneeza Aminy.

Dr Reid concluded, “the current opportunities that these online digital training courses from Marvel Marketers provide are vital for both students and business in order to achieve the ‘new normal’ in the post-COVID world and we are delighted to be able to bring this marketing expertise to Northern Ireland.”
