Before being acquired by Loughview Leisure Group in 2015, Ten Square was a 22 bed boutique hotel, and immediately upon acquisition, the group commenced a major refurbishment, transforming three iconic Belfast buildings located across Linenhall Street and Donegal Square South into a 131 bed 4-star accredited property, complete with new reception, a new rooftop Loft Bar and a totally revamped events space for weddings and corporate functions.
According to Chris Kearney, the financial director of Loughview Leisure, who oversaw the hotel’s revamp, the final phase pays homage to the city’s history. “Given Belfast’s rich and colourful linen heritage and the fact the original building was a linen warehouse, owned by twice serving Belfast Lord Mayor, Sir Otto Jaffa, we wanted to retain that character and celebrate the hotel’s back story with The Doffer,” he said.
“We’ve included artwork from local artist Vincent McAllister, which embraces the history and heritage of the building and surrounding areas. And while our luxury suites, including the Jaffa suite with a private roof terrace overlooking City Hall, would compare with any deluxe suite in any metropolitan city in the world, The Doffer gives a nod to the Belfast of the past and is more traditional in style. This has been welcomed by customers old and new, along with the increasing number of out-of-state tourists and world travellers who are staying with us since the expansion.

The massive refurbishment of Ten Square is the result of over £20m investment by local owners Loughview Leisure Group supported by Ulster Bank and Tennent’s NI and resulting in a 131-bedroom, world class, 4 star hotel. Its completion comes at a time when demand for excellent hotel accommodation and authentic food experiences is at an all-time high in the city.
