One of Ireland’s top countryside resorts has announced plans to invest in a range of new adventure-type features within its 600-acre resort as it prepares for what it believes will be the great post-lockdown escape. The award-winning Lough Erne Resort, which nestles within its own private Peninsula on the outskirts of Enniskillen, said today it would be opening a spectacular new Themed Woodland Forest Trail as part of a raft of new activities planned to encourage guests to enjoy the outdoors and wellness during the spring and summer periods.

Joanne Walsh, general manager at the 5-Star resort, said the plans had been developed in response to exceptional customer demand and feedback following the introduction of outdoor activity options such as paddle boarding and yoga last summer.

“Given our unique location in one of the most scenic parts of the UK and Ireland we believe we are well placed to cater for people of all ages – including families – who want to swap their traditional summer continental holiday for a prolonged staycation in the stunning Fermanagh Lakelands.

“We believe the introduction of a new Themed Woodland Forest Trail that will take families on a wonderful outdoor adventure throughout lands and paths in which the resort is located will be a real focal point for our new range of outdoor activities that will include many options to enjoy including Lakeside Yoga, Paddle Boarding and Water Biking. We are delighted to have teamed up with local company, Blue Green Yonder to co-create a whole series of outdoor activities that will be especially suited to families who want to create memories together in the beautiful, rural Northern Ireland countryside which is literally a world apart.”

The General Manager added: “As well as adding a whole range of new outdoor activities through our partners, we plan on adding new outdoor furniture and barbeque equipment for those staying in our fabulous Luxury Self-Catering Lodges. These new features – plus a whole host more that will be revealed in due course – will form part of an ambitious development plan aimed at creating unforgettable experiences for all of our valued guests, whether they be individuals, couples, families or groups.”
Work is due to start next month on the Themed Woodland Forest Trail and a new Activities Reception facility close to Castle Hume Golf Club, with the public getting its first glimpse of the new facility in Springtime.

“Whilst the resort is in hibernation mode due to lockdown, our team will be working hard to ensure that from Springtime our guests will be able to sample a whole new outdoor experience, underpinned by the exemplary service, fantastic food and wonderful accommodation everyone associates with Lough Erne Resort.
“We know that having something to look forward to is a great way to combat low moods that can be so prevalent during lockdown. What could be better to look forward to than a staycation in rural Fermanagh?”.

Launching its new Spring and Summer Exclusives’ packages today, Lough Erne Resort is offering those that book a five or seven night self-catering stay at one of their beautiful lodges a range of value-add options including the choice of a complimentary private cruise on Lough Erne with Erne Water Taxis, a one hour stand up paddle boarding session with Blue Green Yonder or Lakeside Yoga with Ocean Yoga.

Spring prices for self-catering start from £695 for 3 nights, £975 for 5 nights and £1,295 for 7 nights, based on a two-bedroom luxury lodge with the option to upgrade to a three bedroom lodge which sleeps a family of six with the option to upgrade and add a further two children.

Hotel accommodation this Spring starts from £139 per room, with summer overnight stays starting at £189 per room. Summer Guests will also be able to choose from a host of upgrade extras including grazing boards and a private bath butler to name but a few. With demand expected to be high post-lockdown early booking is advisable.
