A new fundraising initiative from local independent fashion retailer, My Sister’s Closet, in aid of Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI has raised over £20,000 in just 12 hours of going live.   In September 2019, Anita Ross was diagnosed with blood cancer, Hodgkin Lymphoma, and bravely shared her story on the popular My Sister’s Closet social media platforms she runs with her sister and business partner, Donna.

To mark the end of Anita’s chemotherapy journey and celebrate now being cancer free, the sisters are giving away a stunning Chanel Trendy CC handbag, worth over $6,000, with all proceeds being donated to Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI.

Anita Ross said: “It was a complete shock when I was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma, but thankfully it was caught early and after 12 sessions of chemotherapy, I am now living cancer free. The online community Donna and I have built up over the years was amazing in supporting me through this difficult time. We share our day-to-day life with our followers, and I felt it was important to share my cancer journey, the highs and the lows, in the hope that I might be able to help other people in theirs and also raise awareness of Hodgkin Lymphoma at the same time.

Throughout my treatment, my sense of style also helped me to keep positive.  Fashion has always been a massive part of my life and it was something for me to focus on and get me through the days, good and bad, and enabled me to face my treatment head-on.”

“We wanted to thank our loyal followers for the support we have both received over the last six months and give something back. We were able to track down the stunning sold-out Chanel Trendy CC handbag, which Donna and I purchased together using our own money. We are delighted to give people the chance to win this beautiful bag and to enter we are simply asking for a minimum donation of £5 with all proceeds going to Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI, a fantastic local charity dedicated to fighting blood cancers.

At the beginning of my journey, I set up a Just Giving page which has raised over £12k since September. We launched the competition on Sunday at 3pm and we’ve been blown away with the response. In the first 12 hours, over £20,000 in donations were made which is just amazing and we are hoping to raise as much money as we can for this fantastic local charity,” Anita added.
