The final tables remain for the Institute of Directors Northern Ireland (IoD NI) Annual Dinner where business leaders will hear “real-life Brexit lessons” as the final date for the UK to leave the EU draws nearer. The event, sponsored by Bank of Ireland and leading law firm Arthur Cox, will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Belfast on Thursday 7th February when Martin McCourt, best known for transforming Dyson, will provide a keynote address.

Currently non-executive chairman at Glen Dimplex, Martin has also held senior positions at globally recognised firms such as Mars, Duracell and Toshiba.

More than 450 leaders are expected at the dinner which is considered a highlight on the annual business social calendar.

Gordon Milligan, IoD NI Chairman, said:

“We are greatly looking forward to next month’s Annual Dinner where we will hear from one of the UK and Ireland’s foremost business minds in Martin McCourt.

“During his 15 years as CEO of Dyson, he helped the company reach revenue of £1 billion for the first time and was directly responsible for establishing in more than 60 new markets, which now make up over 80% of annual sales for the business.

“As such, there is no doubt Martin’s insight will prove invaluable amid the current climate of uncertainty, particularly for those companies that are seeking to broaden horizons beyond their traditional core markets.

“These real-life Brexit lessons are vital as we seek to learn best practice from other business leaders in a bid to improve outcomes for our businesses and the wider economy.”

The Annual Dinner will also feature a performance by classical singer Karl McGuckin, acclaimed baritone and practising barrister.

The event is open to both members and non-members. For more information regarding the Annual Dinner and to book a table, please visit www.iod.co.uk/ni or email Julie-Anne.Clarke@iod.com.
