An awards ceremony designed to recognise the achievements and contribution of small businesses and the self-employed in Northern Ireland is now open for entries. As the largest event of its kind in the small business calendar, the free to enter FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards 2022 are an opportunity for national recognition, with winners from each category securing a spot at the prestigious UK Final.


A sought-after prize in the small business sector, hundreds of small firms in Northern Ireland enter every year in categories including Family Business of the Year, Young Entrepreneur of the Year and International Business of the Year.

The FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards attracts businesses from all over Northern Ireland, from sole traders and micro businesses to those with substantial workforces, and invites entries across 12 categories:

Being shortlisted as a finalist is a remarkable achievement and a fantastic chance for publicity and exposure, with the awards in many areas trending on social media and in the press. The Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, congratulated the UK finalists of the FSB Awards 2020.

The UK Final sees 132 finalists come together to find out who will be named overall winner in each category for the UK and who will be crowned the FSB Small Business of the Year.

Northern Ireland businesses Outsource Solutions NI and Abbey Upholsterers took home two out of the 11 titles available at FSB Awards 2020 UK Final.

FSB Northern Ireland Regional Chair, Brendan Kearney, said: “Picking up two out of the possible 11 UK award titles is a considerable achievement but comes as no surprise given the incredible resilience and determination we continuously see in our local companies and organisations. We are so very proud of all our finalists and winners.”

Local and UK-wide winners and finalists are outstanding examples of successful and diverse small businesses, showcasing innovation, ambition and determination. Small businesses embody the creativity and resilience that fuels the UK’s prosperity.

The Northern Ireland final will take place at the Crowne Plaza in Belfast on 13 April 2022, with winners going through to the UK Final on 19 May 2022 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow.
