Leading AI and data analytics solutions provider Belfast-based Analytics Engines is set to play a key role in supporting the National Gallery London as it becomes the first major national museum in the UK to reopen following the Covid-19 shutdown.   Following closure of 111 days, the National Gallery London reopens to the public on Wednesday July 8th.

Analytics Engines’ data solution ‘Perspective’ – which has been deployed at The Gallery since 2018 – will be providing the museum with comprehensive insights and intelligence into visitor behaviour.

The solution intelligently integrates with a variety of data sources including Wi-Fi, social media and ticket sales to provide the Gallery with insights into attendance, ticket sales, visitor flow and routing within a single platform.

As part of their reopening, the National Gallery has implemented a free ticketing system to more effectively manage the number of visitors within the museum at a single time. In addition, the Gallery will also implement a one-way system to help better manage visitor flow. Analytics Engines MD Dr Aislinn Rice said: “We are privileged to be able to support the National Gallery as it leads the sector out of the Covid-19 crisis. Our development team has worked closely with the Data & Insights team at the National Gallery to ensure visitor safety is managed appropriately whilst maximising audience participation and experience.

“Perspective enables the National Gallery to understand in real-time how the various physical safety measures they have implemented impact visitor behaviour and flow. The expectation is that the data and lessons learned over the reopening period will enable other tourism venues to successfully re-emerge from the lockdown period.”

Ms Scott-Songin said: “By surfacing insights on expected visitor numbers, current capacity and dwell times, Perspective will contribute to ensuring the National Gallery delivers visitor safety as they interact with and move through our exhibition space.

“This is a very exciting time for the Gallery and in this new situation, it is vital to have a real-time view of flow within our space and tools like ‘Perspective’ will help us do this.”
