A name from the airport’s past will be returning to Belfast City Airport this summer. Scottish airline Loganair will be commencing a six times weekly service linking Belfast City with Carlisle Lake District Airport in the north-west of England.

The route will commence on 4th June and will be operated by a 34-seater Saab 340 aircraft.

Katy Best, Commercial Director at Belfast City Airport, said:

“I am delighted to welcome both a new airline and a new route to Northern Ireland directly connecting the region to the Cumbria and Lake District areas for the first time.

“Local demand for connectivity to the Northern English county is evident amongst both business and leisure passengers and the six times weekly Loganair service will accommodate affordable and convenient access.

“The airline will be operating this route as a partner of Stobart Group making the arrival of strategic importance to Belfast City Airport where developing our route network remains a primary aim.”

In the earlier days of Belfast City Airport, Loganair was one of the main operating airlines, linking Belfast with a number of UK airports including both Glasgow & Edinburgh.
