The latest new-look Centra store has opened in Craigavon, Co. Armagh, creating 30 new jobs and bringing significant investment to the area.

The major £2.5M investment by leading retailer Musgrave and the Greene family comprises a new Centra store and Go Fuel forecourt, located at Lake Road, Craigavon, close to Rushmere Shopping Centre.

Inside the store, customers will recognise the contemporary new design that is currently being rolled out across Centra stores provincewide.  The major new development promises to cater for every type of customer; from local residents collecting their weekly essentials, to the busy office worker seeking healthy but convenient lunch and dinner alternatives.

Along with an abundance of fresh, local produce, Centra Lake Road also showcases additional convenience store concepts including Frank and Honest Coffee – the largest coffee brand on the island of Ireland; a Hot and Cold Deli and a Mex-a-go counter, which serves up a mouth-watering selection of burritos and Mexican-style food to go.

The Greene family are well known in the local community, having owned and operated convenience retail stores in Craigavon for 35 years. The family owns another Centra store, at nearby Legahory shopping centre. The new premises was developed on a greenfield site, close to the central amenities of Craigavon town centre.

Commenting on the opening, store owner Tom Greene said: “We are proud to work with Musgrave, Centra and Go Fuel on what has been a highly significant development for the local area. This store has been developed with the ever-busy commuter in mind, providing a range of fresh food and convenience options, alongside an extensive grocery range. As well as being a one-stop shop for food, household necessities and vehicle fuel, the new Centra store offers comfortable, stylish surroundings.

“We have created an unbelievably high tech and high spec store of the highest standard, which we believe has greatly enhanced the area. We are proud to have created 30 local jobs and to give something back to the community that has supported us throughout the years.”

The new 2,900sq foot store brings the number of Centra stores in Northern Ireland to almost 90, with almost 500 across the island of Ireland. Centra Lake Road also features the latest in energy-saving technology across all electrical appliances, including environmentally friendly fridges, lighting and state-of-the-art kitchen equipment.

Norman Bennett, Centra Customer Manager added: The new Centra stores strive to provide customers with convenient shopping solutions, by combining high quality products and exceptional value. Centra is committed to supporting independently owned stores to not only contribute to the local community, but also to enable shoppers to get the best of both worlds; traditional values of outstanding customer service and good quality, fresh foods, paired with competitive pricing.

“With additional amenities including Customer Wi-Fi and a café-style seating area for consumers to dine-in and take some time-out, the next generation Centra stores help us to respond to the changing needs of the busy consumer and provide a more social and relaxing environment.

“We wish Tom and the Greene family every continued success with the addition of this new store to their growing portfolio of stores, which brings significant investment and local jobs to Craigavon.”
