Translink has unveiled the new sculpture garden at Saltwater Square, following the recent completion of the new civic space outside Belfast Grand Central Station and marking a major milestone in the delivery of the station’s Arts & Heritage Strategy.
The sculpture garden features 3 newly commissioned sculptures entitled “Flight Trace” by James Fox, “Water Under the Bridge” by Eleanor Wheeler & Alan Cargo and “Interweave” by Martin Boyle*.
Speaking at the unveiling, Translink’s Louise Sterritt, said: “These wonderful eye-catching sculptures form a key part of the impressive arts and heritage collection on display at Belfast Grand Central Station and across the surrounding public realm at Saltwater Square. We hope our customers and the wider public enjoy discovering these beautiful art-pieces and find them uplifting, inspiring and moving as they make their everyday journeys. We would like to thank our partners in Golden Thread Gallery and all the artists who have created such stand-out bespoke sculptures that can be enjoyed for years to come.”

To celebrate the completion of the sculpture garden, Golden Thread Gallery co-ordinated free artist-led creative workshops at the station, bringing together local communities, passengers and visitors to create their own artworks inspired by the new sculptures.
