Omniplex Cinema Group, the largest cinema company in Northern Ireland, has announced its expansion into Great Britain. The move will see the group acquire five existing Empire Cinema locations. The rebranded Omniplex Cinemas will open in Birmingham, Ipswich, Sutton, Clydebank, and High Wycombe in December 2023, with additional locations to be confirmed in 2024.
The news comes following an investment by the group of £22.5 million over eighteen months to acquire and renovate these existing locations, securing 150 existing jobs in the process. With the cinema company already operating 16 separate cinema locations across Northern Ireland, it has signalled its commitment to establishing a strong presence in the GB cinema market.

The individual site openings are planned on the following dates; Birmingham on 6 December, Ipswich and Sutton on 8 December, Clydebank and High Wycombe on 10 December 2023.
