Northern Ireland’s First Taco Bell To Open On Monday

Northern Ireland’s first Taco Bell, which is located at Applegreen’s Lisburn North location on the M1, will open at 11am on Monday, May 18.

The new Taco Bell restaurant at Lisburn North, which will serve customers seven days a week, from 11am to 10 pm, is being opened by Applegreen as part of a partnership with the Mexican-inspired restaurant chain across the UK and Ireland.

“We are looking forward to welcoming customers to Northern Ireland’s first Taco Bell on May 18,” said John Diviney, Managing Director of Applegreen UK.

Applegreen currently operates three Taco Bell outlets in the Republic of Ireland and 10 Taco Bells at its Welcome Break business in the UK.

Taco Bell, which is based in Irvine, California, operates more than 8,700 restaurants worldwide and is known for its craveable and bold Mexican-inspired flavours. Taco Bell’s menu includes consumer favourites such as the famous Crunchy Taco, as well as Burritos, Quesadillas, Nachos, and the iconic Crunchwrap Supreme™.

Lisburn North is one of five Applegreen locations in Northern Ireland. The company also has a second motorway service area at Lisburn South, and it also has sites in Templepatrick, Ballymena, and Hillsborough.

Bringing Taco Bell to Northern Ireland is part of Applegreen’s €1 billion (£865 million) upgrade and expansion plan which will see significant investment across the company’s operations in the UK, Ireland, and the United States.

Applegreen, which is one of Ireland’s leading hospitality brands, currently operates about 435 locations, and has more than 700 branded food outlets across its international network. The company employs about 17,000 people worldwide and had annual sales of €3.8 billion (£3.28 billion) in 2024.

In the UK, Applegreen operates 61 service areas and 31 hotels through its Welcome Break business. Welcome Break employs more than 6,000 people and serves more than 85 million customers annually.

Welcome Break, which can trace its roots back to 1959 and the beginning of motorway services in Britain, is a leading operator of motorway and roadside service areas in the UK.

Applegreen has almost 200 sites in the Republic of Ireland and has a major business in the United States, with a network of service areas in states such as New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
