Northern Ireland Firm My Baggage Invests In Paris Office

Home-grown international luggage shipping company My Baggage has revealed significant growth with a recent investment of over £300,000 in the development and launch of proprietary technology which will simplify the customs process for customers. In conjunction, the company has also established a footprint in Paris, France – a significantly growing market for the brand – and is supporting Irish athletes and visitors of the Paris 2024 Olympics get their luggage to and from Paris stress free.

In response to continued growth in France, My Baggage has established a new office in Paris and added additional routes to and from France to help visitors to the French capital. My Baggage is proud to be supporting Irish athlete Victoria Catterson this summer by shipping her luggage to and from Paris to help ensure safe and timely delivery of all her essentials and avoid the stress of travelling with heavy luggage.

Paul Stewart, Managing Director, My Baggage comments, “Our new office in France is part of the continued growth and development plans for My Baggage with expansion into France being a logical next step for us as it is our largest non-English speaking region for expat customers. We are delighted to see the increase in demand for our services from both Irish athletes and visitors alike and are happy we can help by transporting their luggage safely and efficiently to their desired French destinations.”

To ensure customer service remains a priority for the company, My Baggage’s new team in Paris is helping to expand the My Baggage offering with customer support from native French speakers to help with local operations and communications with French customers.

My Baggage’s new customs clearance technology is also playing an important role in the company’s expansion into France and indeed other growth areas including Australia. The technology has been developed in response to the increasingly varied customs processes for the countries reached by My Baggage’s services. The fully digital customs clearance process – which has been developed in-house over the last 3 years and offers truest paperless customs in over 100 countries – is helping people who are moving or travelling internationally through the secure and compliant exchange of data which automates the previously time-consuming and complicated task of preparing a shipment and completing required customs paperwork for their final destination.

Discussing how the solution works Paul Stewart explains, “It can be very difficult to know what forms to complete to allow your personal effects to enter a new country without accruing customs duties when travelling or moving abroad. Each country has its own set of forms that needs to be completed in advance, along with a pro-forma invoice and several paper copies created for each of the relevant authorities. This new technology has enabled us to digitise the process, making it much easier and removing the hassle for customers.”

Headquartered in Belfast, My Baggage ships items including luggage, boxes and sports equipment to over 160 countries and territories globally with full online tracking. Since 2009, the company has grown to offer a full door to door solution to anyone who needs bags and boxes sent around the world and has shipped luggage, boxes, and sports equipment for over 150,000 customers worldwide.
