Northern Ireland Construction Awards Launched For 2026

The Construction Employers Federation (CEF) has announced the launch of the NI Construction Awards 2026, signalling a new chapter for recognising achievement across the construction sector, supported by headline sponsor Payapps.

Formerly known as the CEF Excellence Awards, the event has been a key fixture in the industry calendar since 1999, recognising outstanding achievement for nearly three decades. In 2026, the awards enter their 27th year with a new name, new partners, and a new venue, reflecting the scale and ambition of today’s built environment.

For the first time, CEF will deliver the awards in partnership with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and the Mineral Products Association Northern Ireland (MPANI), bringing together contractors, engineers, and materials producers under a single, unified platform.

This expanded collaboration represents a step-change in how the industry is recognised, broadening participation and strengthening connections across the sector.

The awards will move to a new larger venue, with the 2026 gala evening taking place at ICC Belfast on Thursday 1 October. The ICC will allow for increased attendance and an enhanced event experience, reflecting strong and growing interest across the sector.

Entries for the NI Construction Awards 2026 are now open, with submissions accepted through to the end of May. A wide range of categories will recognise excellence in areas including innovation, project delivery, sustainability, and workforce development. In addition to these established categories, three new awards will be introduced in 2026: Design Excellence, Mineral Product Supplier of the Year, and Excellence in Asset Management.

Speaking on the launch, CEF Chief Executive Mark Spence said:

“These changes represent more than a rebrand  they signal a new era of collaboration and ambition for our industry. By bringing together construction, engineering, and materials under one platform, we are creating a stronger, more representative awards programme. The NI Construction Awards 2026 will reflect that ambition, with a larger and more diverse audience, broader industry participation, and a premier setting at ICC Belfast.”

The evening will be hosted by architect and television presenter George Clarke alongside presenter Claire McCollum. Companies and organisations across the sector are encouraged to begin preparing submissions early.

Further details on categories, eligibility, and how to enter are available via the CEF website.
