NI Water is proud to champion the value of apprenticeships as part of Apprenticeship Week 2026, which runs from 2nd to the 6th of February 2026.
Apprenticeship Week shines a spotlight on the accomplishments of apprentices and recognises the essential role they play in supporting local businesses, communities and the wider economy.
NI Water has 27 Entry Level opportunities available for its September 2026 intake, including Water Utilities, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Engineering Plant Operators, Science, Construction Engineering, Hydraulic Modelling and Internal Audit.

Ewan Lecky from Strabane joined NI Water as a M&E Craft Fitter Apprentice after sixth form at school. Ewan said: “I discovered this NI Water Apprenticeship through my cousin, who inspired me with his experiences, especially the chance to work with equipment like pumps, motors, and gearboxes. This hands-on learning and the opportunity to continually solve complex problems drew me in.
“A typical day could mean working with a mentor and going anywhere in the North West, working on clean water and wastewater sites, tackling tasks such as unblocking pumps or installing motors. The role offers constant learning, from multiskilling with electricians to completing various training courses like Water Hygiene and Forklift Training, all of which boost my confidence.
“My ambition is to master M&E Services, mentor others, and become known for innovative problem-solving. It is a great apprenticeship with great people that look after you. You are learning while you work and every day you learn something new. You go to college once a week which gives you more confidence within your work.
