MP Backs British Heart Foundation’s Reuse Revolution Campaign

North Down MP Alex Easton has joined forces with British Heart Foundation Northern Ireland to encourage the local community to ‘donate one thing this Spring’ and think second hand first.

The leading heart charity has launched it’s ‘Reuse Revolution’ campaign to inspire people here to donate and shop at their local BHF store and online via its eBay site, to help fund lifesaving research for the 225,000 people in Northern Ireland currently living with heart and circulatory conditions.

By offering up their preloved fashion and homeware, people will also be doing their bit to save the planet as every year the BHF saves over 56,000 tonnes of goods from going to waste.

Mr Easton chose to donate a Jack Vettriano framed print ‘Dance me to the End of Love’ which, he explained, has significant meaning: “It reminds me of a golden era when life felt carefree and full of joy—so different from the demanding pace we face in today’s society.”

The MP continued: “I’m delighted to be supporting British Heart Foundation to encourage people to donate and shop sustainably.

“I want to encourage everyone to join the Reuse Revolution and consider both donating and checking out what’s on offer at BHF shops across Northern Ireland and online. The simple act of shopping can help the planet and raise money for a fantastic cause.”

Rachel Lowry, BHF Bangor shop manager said: “We’re delighted that Alex has joined our Reuse Revolution and has chosen BHF Bangor store to donate his beautiful picture as well as visiting our store.

“This month we are asking the local community to join the Reuse Revolution and shop, upcycle or donate second hand homeware, clothes and toys while helping to raise funds for life saving heart research.”

Fearghal McKinney, Head of BHF Northern Ireland added: “At BHF NI, we depend on the generous donations of preloved items from the public to continue to fund our lifesaving research. Every pound raised in our charity’s shops and online stores helps support the 225,000 people in our local communities who are living with heart and circulatory conditions.”

In a year, BHF saves over 54,000 tonnes of goods from going to waste. Find your nearest British Heart Foundation shop here.
