Mount Charles Group Invests £2 Million In 12 Months

Northern Ireland’s largest independent facilities management companies has invested £2 million over the last 12 months.

The Mount Charles Group, which employs 3,500 across the island of Ireland, is well on its way to meet the targets of its ambitious five-year growth strategy which includes investing £10 million and creating 2,000 additional jobs by 2030.

The outsourcing and facilities management business said the £2 million cash injection included business improvements and contract investment as well as wide-ranging technological advancements.

Significant expenditure was invested on the Mount Charles Leadership Academy, a CMI (Chartered Management Institute) recognised qualification which was established in March this year with the aim of forming the next generation of leaders within the organisation.

It provides a structured development pathway – from mentoring level through bronze, silver, gold and platinum tiers, with an initial cohort of 60 team members having begun their leadership journey this year.

Mount Charles Chief Strategy Officer Gavin Annon said the family business, which has a turnover of over £55 million, plans to invest a further £8 million over the next four years.

“We are committed to sustained growth and investment to deliver on our vision; the best employee and customer experience every day.

“We’re especially proud to have created the Mount Charles Leadership Academy, which will be one of the company’s pillars of excellence going forward.

“By equipping our people with accredited leadership skills and a clear pathway for progression, we are strengthening our pipeline of future leaders and reinforcing our long-term commitment to professional growth, social value and sustainability.”

Established by Trevor Annon in 1988 and headquartered at Annon House on Belfast’s Ormeau Road, Mount Charles has grown from a small contract catering company into a support services giant.

The all-island company is one of Northern Ireland’s top 20 employers and serves several high-profile clients across Ireland, including Ulster Rugby, Translink, Belfast International Airport, Simon Community Ireland and the Irish Blood Transfusion Service.
