Responsible business network Business in the Community Northern Ireland (BITCNI), in partnership with Aqua Libra, recently hosted a half-day workplace wellbeing conference to explore, discuss and address some of the biggest challenges and opportunities facing businesses in creating a positive and healthy workplace.
The ‘Healthy Working Lives’ conference, which took place at the Galgorm Resort in Ballymena, was hosted by BBC Health Correspondent Marie-Louise Connolly and featured a host of expert speakers and best-practice examples, alongside case studies and peer learning to help local employers prepare for the future and better support their people.
Breakout sessions addressed some of the more challenging issues for HR professionals, including mental health, addiction, domestic abuse and the parenthood journey.
An exhibition area connected delegates with charities and service providers who can support employers on the issues addressed at the conference.
Sian Young, Director of Sustainable Business at Britvic Ireland — an Aqua Libra brand — said: “At Aqua Libra, we believe that a thriving business begins with a healthy, supported workforce. We’re proud to support the Healthy Working Lives Conference, an event dedicated to empowering business leaders to tackle the challenges and embrace the opportunities of building healthier, more positive workplaces.
“It’s truly inspiring to see so many passionate and forward-thinking employers gathered to discuss some very tough topics, but the event left conference delegates energised and motivated to continue putting employee wellbeing at the heart of our organisations.”
Lisa McIlvenna, Managing Director of Business in the Community, said: “People are the foundation of every business and their best asset. Without healthy, engaged and motivated people, businesses will struggle to grow and thrive, so it’s of the utmost importance that employers prioritise supporting better wellbeing.
“With the rise in public health challenges and growing demand for health services increases, the case for investing in employee wellbeing has never been stronger. I’m proud that our Healthy Working Lives conference addressed some of the most pressing workplace wellbeing concerns facing both individuals and employers today. If your business is looking for guidance or support, we’re here to help—don’t hesitate to reach out.”
