The Holywood Chamber of Commerce has announced that Holywood Wine Bar has been awarded Best in Hospitality in the prestigious Holywood Chamber Presidents Awards 2025, following an overwhelming public vote.
The award – decided by almost 500 votes, with 57% going to Holywood Wine Bar – highlights the love and loyalty the venue has inspired within the local community since opening just over a year ago.
Run by the dynamic husband-and-wife team Demelza and Darryl Flynn, Holywood Wine Bar has become a much-loved part of the town’s hospitality scene. Evolving from their former venture Café 81, the duo has created more than just a wine bar — they’ve crafted a space that combines exceptional service, culinary creativity, community spirit, and an unmistakably welcoming vibe.
Joint Chamber President Derek West commented: “Holywood Wine Bar deserves to win Best Hospitality Business in town because they don’t just serve food and drinks — they create memorable experiences while giving back to the community and taking hospitality beyond their venue. Demelza, Darryl, and their team have raised the bar for what hospitality should look like in Holywood, and the public vote proves just how valued they are.”
Voters praised the passion of the owners and staff, the delicious, high-quality food, the extensive drinks menu, and the value for money without compromise. Many also noted the personal touches that make the venue stand out – such as the chef personally checking in with guests and adapting most dishes to cater to dietary requirements.
Demelza Flynn, co-owner, said: “Oh my goodness, we are over the moon to win this!
“My team and I are passionate about what we do. We really do try to go above and beyond to make sure every guest feels welcome, valued, and at home. Whether it’s a first-time visitor or a loyal regular, we make every experience special with personalised service and attention to detail.”
She continued: “We have been on quiet a journey over the past 11 years, evolving from a coffee shop of ‘81’ to the Wine Bar in the past 12 months. Everything we offer is carefully curated, from our unique menus to our innovative cocktails, wines, small plates and sharing boards. We take hospitality beyond our doors too, with outside catering and mobile bars for private events, corporate functions, and special occasions — always delivering the same level of quality and service.”
Holywood Wine Bar is also known for its commitment to the local community, supporting local suppliers, charities, sports clubs, and community initiatives.
“Hospitality isn’t just about serving guests—it’s about building relationships and making a positive impact,” added Demelza. “Winning this award is a celebration of our journey so far — and a reflection of the passion and consistency we bring to everything we do.”
The Holywood Chamber Presidents Awards celebrate the innovation, resilience, and achievements of local businesses across the town. The Best in Hospitality Award, in particular, shines a light on those delivering outstanding customer experiences — and Holywood Wine Bar has certainly delivered.
