Guinness To Open Its Dublin Gates For Open Air Music Event

Guinness announces it is kicking off a festival of summer events on one lovely day in May, by inviting music lovers through its famous James’s Street gate for an experience like never before.

On Saturday 18 May, Guinness will host Lovely Day to Open the Gates, the brewery’s first ever open air music concert. Situated in the historical heart of Dublin 8, St. James’s Gate is one of the world’s most iconic locations and the perfect cultural backdrop for epic live music performances and a festival of food created by local chefs.

Marking the start of summer, Lovely Day to Open the Gates will feature an incredible line-up of Irish and international music stars, including headline act Disclosure, who will be supported by some very special guests to be announced.

Disclosure launched their fourth studio album Alchemy last July and this is the first and only time they will perform live to an Irish audience this year. On Alchemy, the brothers who make up the electronic music duo, Guy and Howard, have been described as embracing a new sense of freedom and expression. Disclosure have clocked up over 11 billion streams, sold over seven million albums. They have played major global shows, from a sold-out Madison Square Garden, to headline slots on Glastonbury’s Other Stage and large scale sets at Coachella and now they’re coming to Dublin 8 to officially celebrate the start of summer with Guinness.

Set to be one of the highlights of summer, guests can expect the ultimate festival vibes with a custom built music stage and a delicious food offerings from Man Street Kitchen, Mani Pizza, Mamma’s Boy Food, Mushroom Butcher and Bish Bosh featuring local dishes inspired by the flavours of Guinness and our beloved Irish summer. What could be lovelier!

Jeanette Levis, Guinness Marketing Manager said: “This is a huge moment for us. For the first time ever, the brewery will be transformed for one day only for an open air music spectacular. Over the last two summers our Lovely Days campaign has really captured the public’s imagination. Lovely Day to Open the Gate sets the scale and ambition we have for this summer. What better place to kick start summer than at St. James’s Gate, the home of Guinness here in culture rich Dublin 8.”

And that’s only the start of it. The very next day Guinness will hit the road for the start of its Live & Rising summer series of events. Fresh from their performance at Lovely Day to Open the Gates, the line up of special guests will celebrate the magic of an Irish pub in summer in Cork and Belfast.

Following on from the festival at St James’s Gate, the brand’s home of experimentation, the Guinness Open Gate Brewery, will be reopening on Thursday 23rd May with a fresh line up of brews and Dublin 8’s best beer garden just in time for summer.

This summer Guinness will also be showing up at some of Ireland’s most anticipated festivals and events, including Forbidden Fruit, Live at the Marquee and All Together Now where the Lovely Days Stage will return. In between sets at the Lovely Days Stage, festival goers can enjoy a creamy pint and a taste of what’s to come this summer at the Guinness 1759 Bar with plenty of unmissable moments across the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Tickets will be available on Tuesday, 7th May at 12pm
