Belfast Welcome Centre Marks Two Decades With Award Success

Belfast’s Welcome Centre has been named ‘Best Tourist Information Centre 2024’ at the 32nd Northern Ireland Travel and Tourism Awards, marking twenty consecutive years that the facility has held the title of Northern Ireland’s top-rated information centre.

The NI Travel and Tourism Awards, which were voted for by the public and presented in a ceremony at the Slieve Donard Hotel, recognise and celebrate the success and hard work of the Northern Ireland travel and tourism industry, with more than 30 titles awarded to a range of travel agencies and operators, airlines, visitor attractions and hospitality venues.

Opened in 2013, the £1.8m Visit Belfast Welcome Centre, which is located opposite Belfast City Hall, was praised at this year’s event for the visitor experience delivered by its team, and for providing an invaluable resource for both visitors and residents across Belfast.

Operated by Visit Belfast on behalf of Belfast City Council and Tourism NI, the centre provides visitors and residents with information on local attractions, history and culture, and manages bookings for walking, bus and taxi tours, as well as local accommodation, experiences and events.

“To be named as Best Tourist Information Centre for 2024 is a true honour for our team, who work tirelessly to make every visitor’s experience in Belfast special,” commented Gerry Lennon, Chief Executive of Visit Belfast.

“The Belfast Welcome Centre is a gateway to discovering the heart and soul of the city, and winning this award confirms the value it brings to residents and tourists alike. We’re thrilled to have our work celebrated at the Northern Ireland Travel and Tourism Awards, and look forward to welcoming even more visitors through our doors in the coming years.”

Belfast’s Welcome Centre has won ‘Best Tourist Information Centre’ at the Northern Ireland Travel and Tourism Awards for the last twenty years. The centre is open daily, and can provide tourism information and advice, Translink rail and bus ticket sales, tickets for tours and events, free wi-fi, luggage storage services and a gift shop.

It’s been a record year for award wins for Visit Belfast. Earlier this month, Belfast was named as ‘Best Event Destination UK’ at this year’s Conference & Incentive Travel (C&IT) awards in London, and in June of this year it won ‘Best Convention Bureau’ at the micebook annual awards, enhancing the city’s reputation as a leading destination for world-class conferences and events.
