Leading accountancy and business advisory firm BDO Northern Ireland (BDO NI) has named Cancer Fund for Children as its new official charity partner.
Announcing a two-year partnership, BDO Northern Ireland has set an ambitious fundraising target of £20,000 to be met through a busy programme of events, initiatives and awareness‑raising activities. One of the many plans in place will see Lorraine Nelson, BDO NI Partner and Head of Tax, take part in ‘Rory’s Miles to Mayo’ challenge. A demanding and ambitious feat, Lorraine will walk nine marathons in nine days alongside Ireland rugby legend Rory Best and a crew of other business leaders.
Ciara Hughes, Human Resources Manager, BDO NI, comments: “Cancer Fund for Children is an exceptional organisation, whose vital work ensures that no child faces cancer alone. Over the next two years, we know our team will come together to raise as much awareness and funding as possible, with a real sense of passion and commitment.
“We are always incredibly proud of the effort our people make in getting behind our charity partnership programme. Giving our time to organisations that positively impact the community is part of who we are at BDO NI.
“We’re looking forward to working closely with the team at Cancer Fund for Children and playing a meaningful role in helping them continue their important work for children and families affected by cancer,” Ciara Hughes said.
Sarah Clements, Partnership and Philanthropy Lead Executive, Cancer Fund for Children, added: “We are so grateful for the support of BDO NI this year through their charity partnership. We are excited for the plans ahead and the enthusiasm from the team has been amazing. Sadly, every week in Northern Ireland, approximately three children and young people (aged 0-24) are diagnosed with cancer. The money raised through this partnership will help us ensure that these children and their families don’t have to face their cancer experience alone.”
Cancer Fund for Children provides vital support to young people and families impacted by cancer, helping to reduce isolation and ensure they feel supported throughout their journey.
