Waterways Ireland Appoints New Head Of Human Resources

Waterways Ireland, the cross-border navigational authority for inland waterways, has appointed Sinéad Gaynor as Head of Human Resources at the organisation.

In her role, Sinéad will have responsibility for managing the Human Resources function of the cross-border authority, with primary responsibility for delivering on the organisation’s People Strategy. In addition, Sinéad’s role will also focus on workforce planning, succession planning, alongside a strategic approach to learning and development for all levels of the organisation. 

Sinéad has a strong background in Human Resources, with almost 20 years of experience. Prior to joining Waterways Ireland, Sinéad held the role of Head of Human Resources for Elite Electrician Systems Ltd, and Mallaghan Engineering. In this role Sinéad managed the HR requirements for 400+ employees in multiple jurisdictions.

Previous roles include HR managerial roles with Almac Group, Cooneen Group and Acheson Glover. Sinéad began her career with Fermanagh & Omagh District Council as their Human Resources Officer.

Speaking on her appointment, Sinéad Gaynor said: “I am delighted to join Waterways Ireland at such an exciting time and look forward to leading the delivery of our People Strategy in line with our 10-Year Plan.

A highly qualified Human Resources professional, Sinéad Gaynor holds a Bachelor of Law from the University of Bedfordshire, a Post-Graduate Certificate in Business Management from Liverpool John Moore University, as well as a Master’s in Human Resource Management from Queen’s University Belfast. Sinéad is also a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
