Family Values

Some of our leading family businesses have been talking business in a unique series of interviews organised by Northern Ireland’s Family Business Forum.

Six of the best have been chatting to two men who are among those who make the Family Business Forum tick – Harbinson Mulholland’s Darren McDowell and Dr. Ian Smyth from Ulster Univerity Business School.

They were asked about the ups and downs of running a successful family business, the trials and tribulations of working alongside other family members, and of course, the often thorny subject of succession. So thorny HBO made an award-winning television series about it, although some of our local family firms might reckon they don’t have a lot in common with Logan Roy and Waystar Royco.

Anyway, Season One of The Faces Of Family Business begins on 4th June at 9 pm on Belfast’s local station, NVTV (Virgin 159, Freeview Channel 7 or on demand on www.nvtv.co.uk).

Another of the guiding lights of the Family Business Forum, Harbinson Mulholland’s Treena Clarke, is also the driving force behind the Remarkable Marketing Awards, new to Northern Ireland and taking place on 31st May at the Europa Hotel.

They’re all about celebrating marketers – the people behind the campaigns, the trailblazers and the high achievers.

Sounds good to us. All the details are on www.remarkableawards.com
