Business In The Community Celebrates Kieran Harding’s 35 Years

Business in the Community Northern Ireland (BITCNI) held a special event at Belfast Harbour Commissioners’ office to celebrate the outstanding contribution of Kieran Harding, recognising his 35 years of leadership and service to the organisation and the responsible business movement across Northern Ireland.

For more than three decades, Kieran has been a passionate and influential champion of responsible business, challenging and inspiring companies across Northern Ireland to use their power and resources to create positive change. His leadership helped BITCNI strengthen its position as the leading authority on responsible business and has supported organisations to make a meaningful difference for people, the planet and local communities.

The celebration brought together colleagues, board members, business leaders, partners, friends and family to recognise Kieran’s contribution and the lasting impact of his work. Among those paying tribute was Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs Minister Andrew Muir, who praised Kieran’s role in helping businesses place sustainability, climate action and environmental responsibility firmly on the corporate agenda.

In addition to his work as Managing Director in Northern Ireland, Kieran’s significant influence has been felt across the wider Business in the Community network, as a member of the Executive Leadership Team for the UK and during his time as Interim Chief Executive of Business in the Community UK in 2025 and 2026.

Paying tribute to Kieran’s career, Dr Lisa McIlvenna, Managing Director of Business in the Community Northern Ireland, said: “Kieran’s passion, vision and unwavering commitment to responsible business have helped shape our organisation and the wider business community over the past three decades. His ability to bring people together, build meaningful partnerships and inspire positive change will leave a lasting legacy.

“Kieran has been determined in his pursuit of encouraging  organisations to think differently about their role in society and has shown what can be achieved when business, communities and government work together. On behalf of everyone at Business in the Community, I want to thank Kieran for his exceptional contribution and wish him every success in the next chapter. He leaves a strong legacy of leadership, collaboration and positive social and environmental impact that will continue to shape responsible business in Northern Ireland for years to come.”
