Irish Company Appoints Former Meta & Capital One Cybersecurity Leader

Binarii Labs, the Irish cybersecurity company headquartered at NovaUCD in Dublin, today announced the appointment of Neil Barlow, who has over 25 years’ experience in global leadership roles across cybersecurity, AI and technology risk management, as an Executive Advisor.

Neil Barlow’s previous roles include; Director, Infrastructure and Corporate Security (including AI Security), Deputy CISO (Chief Information Security Officer), Fintech and Director of Cybersecurity at Meta; International CISO and Vice-President of Cybersecurity and Technology Risk Management at Capital One and Information Security Manager at NYSE Euronext.

In these roles he has led security engineering for hyperscale infrastructure and AI systems and overseen global cybersecurity and technology risk programmes within highly regulated, cloud-first environments.

He is also a founding contributor to AIUC-1, an emerging standard for securing agentic AI systems, and actively advises early-stage technology companies on security architecture, AI safety, and scaling.

His expertise spans cybersecurity strategy, cloud security, threat modelling, AI security, and regulatory frameworks including, GDPR, NIST, and PCI-DSS. His work has also contributed to industry standards and emerging frameworks for secure AI systems.

Aidan Finn, CEO and co-founder, Binarii Labs, said, “Neil’s career represents the very top tier of global cybersecurity leadership. Individuals who have operated at that level, inside organisations like Meta and Capital One, are exceptionally selective about where they invest their time. His decision to join Binarii Labs is a strong validation of both our technology and our vision. We are not building incremental security, we are redefining how unstructured data is owned, controlled, and continuously available by design. Neil immediately recognised the significance of what we’ve built.”

Neil Barlow, Executive Advisor to Binarii Labs, said, “What drew me to Binarii Labs is the fundamental shift in how data is handled and their impressive traction to date. Rather than trying to secure data after it is centralised, Binarii’s approach removes the central point of failure entirely.

In a world moving rapidly toward AI-driven systems and increasing regulatory scrutiny, this architecture represents a materially different, and necessary direction for data security.”

Binarii Labs is redefining data sovereignty through its patented distributed security architecture, BinariiDSP. This platform enables organisations to retain full ownership and control of unstructured data by distributing encrypted fragments across independent endpoints, removing single points of compromise while ensuring continuous availability by design.

As Executive Strategic Advisor, Neil Barlow will work with Binarii’s C-suite aiding in shaping the company’s approaches around across product strategy, security architecture, enterprise engagement, and global positioning as the company scales its platform internationally.

Neil Barlow holds a Master of Science degree in Security and Forensic Computing from Dublin City University, and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Computer Science from Ulster University.

Last month Binarii Labs announced that it is closing a €1.85 million funding round to support its global scaling strategy. The company has already secured €1.05 million as part of the round from existing investors and currently has a funding campaign on the Spark Venture Funding platform with an exclusive allocation of €250k to Spark investors.
