The Irish News has once again maintained its position as the UK and Ireland’s best-selling regional daily newspaper, reinforcing its role as a trusted voice for readers and a vital platform for Northern Ireland’s business community.
Latest figures from the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) show that it is the only title selling more than 20,000 copies daily.
Commenting on the announcement, Irish News Editor Chris Sherrard said:
“When I took over as editor of this great and historic title, I was extremely aware of not just its pedigree but its position as the best-read regional daily newspaper in the UK. Every day since has been about maintaining that status whilst looking to the future and putting a plan in place to achieve long-term success and widen the Irish News’s appeal beyond that traditional audience.
“The validation comes every single day when the readers decide whether what we’re doing is worth their hard-earned money, so we are delighted that they continue to support and back us to the extent that they are doing.
“Our ABC figure represents a hell of a lot of people who tell us they are prepared to put their hand in their pocket for our journalism every day – and we are humbled and proud of these figures.
“We know the industry is facing seemingly endless headwinds so we must navigate those whilst maintaining the standards that we have set and which our readers have come to expect from us.
“A huge credit goes to our dedicated and hard-working team of journalists and editors who continue to raise the bar, set the news agenda and inform and inspire audiences young and old.”
