Grand slam winning rugby star Stephen Ferris joined forces with Inspire today to launch the organisation’s first ever Workplace Wellbeing Awards. The event is being launched by the mental health charity to recognise the efforts made by many workplaces to protect and nurture the mental health and wellbeing of employees.

The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 21st June with a Midsummer Gala in the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Hosted by BBC sports commentator Stephen Watson, it will celebrate excellence in teamwork, wellbeing and support in workplaces across Northern Ireland, and will feature a special live interview and Q&A with Irish Rugby Legend and former British and Irish Lion, Stephen Ferris.

Speaking today, Stephen Ferris said:

“Mental health and resilience is something we all need to be aware of and when we spend as much time in work as we do, it makes sense that employers are committed to making sure staff are happy and supported at work.

“I’m thrilled to be continuing my work with Inspire Workplaces to help launch the Inspire Workplace Wellbeing Awards.

“Poor mental health affects so many of us and its so encouraging to see organisations like Inspire not only support people suffering from poor mental health, but also supporting employers to champion things like resilience, team-building and positivity in the workplace.”

John Conaghan, Director of Inspire Professional Services added:

“At Inspire Workplaces we have over 20 years’ experience working with companies from across Ireland who have shown the value they place on their employees by investing in their wellbeing. These awards are an important public celebration of that commitment and vision.

“Inspire Workplaces is leading the way in reshaping workplace wellbeing through the development and delivery of our innovative Employee Resilience Programme (ERP). Aiming to embed a culture of wellbeing in workplaces our ERP approach is at the cutting edge of thinking on organisational culture and employee performance and development”

“The awards will give us the opportunity to recognise employers that are going above and beyond the call of duty or doing something really innovative to improve and support a positive and resilient workforce.”
