One of North Down’s most famous bar and bistros, Romas in Newtownards, is to undergo a £500,000 refurbishment. The investment by Wolf Inns, one of Northern Ireland’s leading pub operating groups, will further enhance the warm hospitality that Romas has offered patrons from Newtownards and beyond for many decades.

The complete refitting of the Regent Street venue will be phased, allowing for business to continue as normal throughout.
Andrew Gedge, Managing Director of Wolf Inns, who purchased Romas late last year explained:
“Work on the first phase of the refurbishment, the downstairs bar and restaurant, has already started and will be complete by Friday 30 May.
“A new separate bar, The Fox and Hounds, will also be created on the ground floor within the existing footprint of the building later his summer.
“Finally, the 120-seater bistro and private dining areas on the first floor will also undergo complete refurbishment, culminating with the creation of a New York inspired open air roof terrace.
“The new Romas will be the jewel in the crown of the Newtownards hospitality sector offering great food and the finest beverages for every occasion.”
The renovation work will be carried out by acclaimed interior fit-out specialists Strong Construction.
The investment is the second to be announced by Wolf Inns, in as many months following the purchase of the Bellevue Arms in North Belfast. The award-winning group also owns the Hop House and the Ava in Bangor.
