Sensata Technologies is one of the world’s leading suppliers of sensors and controls employing more than 1,200 people in Northern Ireland at its sites in Antrim Technology Park and Carrickfergus.

Last month the company picked up three awards for Equality and Diversity in the workplace at the NI Northern Ireland Equality and Diversity Awards.

More than 25,000 people visit the Belfast Mela each August and this year’s festival together with Sensata promises to be the biggest ever on Sunday 25th August, 2019.

Adriana Morvaiova, Team Development Coordinator and Chair of ACE Network, Sensata Technologies says:

“Sensata is a global brand with a local heart in Northern Ireland since we acquired Schrader Electronics in 2014, the market leader in the design and manufacturing of tyre pressure monitoring systems, merging 1200 local employees with a diverse multicultural global team.

“We are delighted to become a principal sponsor of the Belfast Mela this year, as diversity in our workplace is very important to Sensata. This is a perfect partnership as both brands are committed to celebrating the best of our communities in Northern Ireland. We look forward to developing opportunities for our employees to connect with each other to encourage and support a culture of inclusion.

“We have exciting plans to get involved with this year’s festival in Botanic Gardens with a special Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) Zone aligned to the work of the Sensata Foundation that aims to empower the next generation of engineers. Our staff will be part of this extraordinary celebration of cultural diversity through music, dance, food and fun for all the family which has captured the hearts of the Northern Ireland people. “

Nisha Tandon, Executive Director of Arts Ekta and founder of the Belfast Mela said:

“Sensata is a globally outward company and a huge supporter of celebrating diversity in Northern Ireland through its Diversity Charter and local Appreciating Cultural Exchange (ACE) network. We are delighted to welcome them as principal sponsor of the 13th Belfast Mela.

“At this year’s Mela young audiences will have the opportunity to engage in a special Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) zone created by Sensata whose aim is to empower the next generation of global engineers.

“More than 300,000 people have visited the Belfast Mela over the years and this year we want to entice more people to come for the first time and experience all Belfast Mela has to offer.”

The Belfast Mela takes place on Sunday 25th August from 12 noon until 6pm transforming Botanic Gardens into an exotic magical garden with up to 25,000 people expected to enjoy the sights, sounds and aromas from a wealth of nations. For more information go to www.belfastmela.org.uk
