Power NI managing director Stephen McCully explains the rationale behind the campaign initiative:
“As we look forward to our 90th year in business during 2021 we wanted to celebrate our mantra of customers coming first and delivering exceptional discounts on tariffs and through our Perks programme with an added value chance for people to apply for this special funding award.
“It’s an integral part of our hugely popular Brighter Communities initiative and we’re inviting applications from small or large community, sporting, charity, youth and all age groups. We’re looking for enterprising and impactful ideas that bring people together but need an extra injection of cash to bring the project to life.
“It’s been amazing the range of Brighter Communities schemes we’ve supported to date, from dance, ice-skating and gymnastics groups to special schools, bee-keepers, wheelchair basketball players and also dragon boat-racers, older cyclists, survivors of human-trafficking and lunch clubs for older people. The funding has touched every facet of our society.”
Applications for ‘Brighten Your Club’ can be made via Power NI’s website at https://powerni.co.uk/brightercommunities/ and groups should showcase how they can implement an innovative and creative project which will change and improve their local community for the better. The closing date is Tuesday 31st March 2020.
Full details of all criteria can be accessed online, but in summary applicants making a submission on behalf of an organisation or charity, must be over 18 and all groups should be based in Northern Ireland and have no political links. Funding will be awarded only to tangible projects and cannot be used for overall running costs or overheads.
