Allied Bakeries is celebrating the success of its ‘Sunblest Veda Pit Stop’ – which offered Christmas shoppers the perfect winter warmer snack on the go, all in the aid of the bakery’s charity of the year.
With support from Dromona, Nambarrie and Tesco, the Sunblest Veda Pit Stop stationed outside Tesco Royal Avenue during Christmas gave consumers the opportunity to donate £3.50 in return for Sunblest Veda toasted with Dromona cheese and a cup of Nambarrie tea, with every penny going directly to Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children.
In total consumers helped raise a whopping £10,000 attracting almost 3,000 customers to the van including comedy genius Keith Lemon.
The money raised will help Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children offer practical and emotional support to children, teenagers and young adults living with cancer.
Elva O’Connor, Sunblest Brand Manager said: “We have been overwhelmed by the support from consumers for our Sunblest Veda Pit stop and we’re delighted to have raised such a fantastic amount for our charity partner NICFC. Thanks to the help from our sponsors Nambarrie, Dromona and Tesco we have been able to offer 100% of the donations to help this local charity continue to support young people affected by cancer.
Joanne McCallister, Fundraising Manager for NICFC adds “Every week in Northern Ireland another three children, teenagers or young adults are diagnosed with cancer. For these young people and their families life will change dramatically. As a local children’s charity we receive less than 1% Government Funding and rely on the generosity of partners like Sunblest, Nambarrie, Dromona, Tesco and their customers. Every penny counts and we thank shoppers for their support this Christmas.”
