The founder of two of Belfast’s most successful concept bars has announced he is opening Blaklist a new internationally influenced bar on Little Donegall Street.   Anthony Farrell who founded both Love & Death and Aether & Echo, has vast experience within the hospitality sector having worked across Europe and in New York and will open his new venue offering a cosmopolitan and experiential cocktail menu with tapas prepared using local ingredients.

Blaklist which is creating seven new jobs will apply fine dining food science practices adopted by renowned Michelin Star restaurants including Ferran Adrià’s El Bulli Restaurant and Heston Blumenthal’s The Fat Duck.

Offering a unique experience and drawing on a diverse range of influences the Blaklist will feature Venetian and Roman inspired interiors complementing a Mediterranean feel inspired by legendary cocktail bar la Boada’s in Barcelona.

Anthony commented:

“I have drawn inspiration from the bars, places and people I have worked in, and with, including Barcelona, Paris and New York as well as here in Belfast. My experiences in unique venues have contributed to the layout and feel of Blaklist which will offer Belfast something very different.”

Anthony has a vast range of experience and successfully managed hospitality for the MTV Music Awards in 2011, was crowned Belfast’s Best Cocktail Bartender in 2011/2012 before opening the successful Aether & Echo. His company San-greal Bartending has successfully trained thousands of people in the hospitality sector locally.

The new bar located beside The Bear and The Doll within an historic building in Little Donegall Street, originally constructed in 1886, will see the doors open on Friday (8th December).

Anthony added:

“Our vision is for Blaklist bar to be an artistic meeting place where people can relax and socialise in a venue that is customer-orientated, atmospheric and experiential which will deliver an experience like no other Belfast bar. We have transformed a formerly unused space into a vibrant new venue in the heart of the city centre.  This is an area that is being extensively regenerated and we are enormously proud to be part of its exciting new development.”
