Belfast-headquartered tech company Neueda has launched a year-long fundraising programme to support Motor Neurone Disease Association Northern Ireland (MNDA NI) as its official charity of the year. MNDA NI supports people with MND, the name given to a group of related diseases affecting the motor neurones in the brain and spinal cord.

It also provides valuable assistance to the families and carers of those living with MND.

Stephen Thompson of Motor Neurone Disease Association NI said:

“MND affects people in different ways, no two people have exactly the same symptoms or experience of MND.

“It not only affects the person with the disease, but also those close to them. Our aim is to provide as much help, advice and support as we can to people living with MND, their families and carers. In doing so, we provide trained volunteer visits, host group support meetings, help with specialist equipment, materials and information – and deliver educational opportunities for healthcare professionals.

“Our branch is run by volunteers. Having the support of a major local employer like Neueda is crucial in helping us raise the funds we need to continue our service. We look forward to working with the team at Neueda, who have already shown a great deal of enthusiasm for fundraising.”

Steven Creighton, CFO at Neueda, added:

“We invited our employees to nominate which charity we should support in 2019. MNDA NI was proposed by a staff member who sadly lost a friend to MND recently. We are especially pleased to support the invaluable work that MNDA NI provides to those affected in Northern Ireland.

“There are a number of fundraising initiatives planned throughout the year ahead. As well as raising as much money as possible, we hope our efforts will help raise awareness of MND.”
