Lough Erne Resort’s Noel McMeel, Executive Head Chef at the luxurious five-star Fermanagh hotel, has been named ‘Best Chef in Ulster 2018’ at the prestigious Good Eating Guide to Ireland annual awards.   Beating off stiff competition from within the booming culinary scene in Ulster, Noel McMeel’s talents and creative flair highlighted him as the stand-out winner.

Priding himself on a career dedicated to finding, preparing and serving the best fresh, seasonal dishes, Noel’s impressive CV boasts highlights such as creating a menu for world leaders including Barack Obama at the G8 summit, and catering for high profile musicians such as Sir Elton John and Sir Paul McCartney to Hollywood film stars such as Colin Farrell and Liam Neeson, to name but a few. Noel also shares his expertise through regular TV and radio appearances across NI, ROI and GB having featured on The Great British Menu and held a regular slot on RTE’s popular Afternoon Show, where his passion for cooking and promoting local produce shines through.

No stranger to the US, having studied at Johnston and Wales University in Rhode Island and at Boston University, Noel recently returned to the States to take part in a tour Northern Ireland’s thriving food, tourism and hospitality industry. Other international influences come from Noel’s time at Ecole Lenôtre Paris where he specialised in Viennoiserie and chocolate work.

The Good Eating Guide to Ireland annual awards are renowned for recognising and decorating only the best chefs in Ireland, with results based on the votes of industry experts from all parts of the country. The prestigious event is attended by leading chefs and industry representatives from across Ireland and Northern Ireland.
