Kevin MacAllister has been named the new Regional Leader for PwC in Northern Ireland. It follows Paul Terrington’s move to become the UK and EMEA Head of Consulting after 9 years in the post.

Under his tenure, PwC NI has grown from delivering £60m in revenues to more than £170m. With a workforce of almost 2,300, the Belfast office is the firm’s largest outside London and is preparing to move into a new £70m HQ in Belfast city centre.

Kevin has been with PwC for 32 years and led the firm’s Audit and Private Business practice. With broad experience of national private business, he will be focused on supporting the firm’s regional clients as they navigate the dual challenges of the economic recovery from lockdown and prepare for the UK to leave the EU.

Commenting on his appointment, Kevin said:

“This is a critical time for Northern Ireland and I am honoured to take on the role of Regional Leader to support our clients and help them find new opportunities. We are moving towards a post-crisis world where digital transformation is no longer a challenge but a critical need.

“What gives me great confidence is that PwC was ready for unprecedented changes with our drive to become a digitally-led firm. Our investment means we’re in the best position to help clients of all shapes and sizes navigate this new normal and realise their potential.

“With Brexit coming back into focus, we know the pressures will increase as businesses prepare the end of the transition period. We continue to encourage clients to prepare for both a deal and a no deal scenario.

“PwC plays a very important role in Northern Ireland – as the largest professional services company working with many of the top businesses here, as a leading employer and with the commitments we’ve made to support our communities.

“We signalled our belief in Belfast, in its businesses and its talent, by committing one of the largest regional investments the firm has ever made in taking over Merchant Square for our new HQ. That commitment remains unchecked and we aim to start moving in towards the summer of next year. This will bring us right into the city centre and at the heart of the work to rebuild the economy.

““Paul and I have worked together for 30 years and he’s given me great council during that time. I know he’ll be very successful in the Consulting role. As we move forward in the coming months, I’m realistic about the challenges we face together but I’m also optimistic about the resilience and innovation that this region is known for.

After 9 years as Northern Ireland Chair and having been UK Head of Regions for 3 years, Paul takes over the role of UK and EMEA Head of Consulting. He will remain on the firm’s Executive Board and continue as Board Sponsor for Operate.

“I am immensely proud of what we have achieved in Northern Ireland, punching far above our weight in many respects. We’ve been a force for transformation across the firm – not only with Operate, but also creating the Global Blockchain Hub, collaborating with world-class partners and developing the only Google Lab in the UK and bringing ambition and expertise to our clients.

“The energy we put into our business-focus has also driven the work we’ve done around our purpose – to build trust in society and solve important problems. I am delighted to have played a role in supporting equality, diversity and inclusion in Northern Ireland and beyond in my role as UK Head of Regions. As we’ve seen recently, we must continue to work on ensuring every one of us can play their fullest part in society and I will be doing this in my new role.

“I look forward to leading the firm’s Consulting team which is playing a central role in helping businesses and organisations repair, rethink and reconfigure.”
