Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has launched its latest Investment initiative (23 May) with the first meeting of the Lisburn Castlereagh Property Forum at its Council headquarters. The forum comprising of commercial property agents and retail advisors from Northern Ireland was formed so a true partnership approach exists when it comes to promoting the Council area as a prime investment location.

Speaking at the Property Forum Chairman of the Council’s Development Committee, Alderman Allan Ewart, MBE, said: “The Council is actively engaged in promoting the area to potential investors and developers and we recognise that we cannot do this alone.  The Property Forum allows us to tune into the expert market knowledge of commercial property agents and working with them we can present an accurate and detailed profile of our area. I am also delighted to use this opportunity to launch our Investment Guide profiling key opportunity sites and the benefits to investing in our area.”

Contributors to the Forum included Andrew Coggins from CBRE who explained the Northern Ireland Investment Fund and Gavin Weir from property advisors GVA NI who discussed the Council area Office Capacity Consultation, which is currently underway.

The Mayor, Councillor Tim Morrow, also attended the launch and talked about how the “strategic location of Lisburn Castlereagh on the Belfast to Dublin economic corridor together with our excellent infrastructure places us at a great advantage especially post-Brexit.  As a Council we are doing everything we can to sell our area, engage with investors and build on our existing business base for economic growth.”

Chief Executive of the Council, Dr. Theresa Donaldson said: “The ongoing discussions we will have through the Property Forum will be instrumental in shaping our investment marketing plans.  This unrivalled network and the vast experience that goes with it will build on the Council’s strong inward investment programme of activity and act as an invaluable asset to the Investment team.”

The Property Forum will meet on a regular basis with a core objective to assist in the delivery of the Council’s regeneration and growth ambition and to strengthen the area’s investment proposition placing Lisburn Castlereagh in a good position for investment in the future.
