The Linen Quarter has benefited from substantial investment in recent years, including £150m on hotels and social spaces. The area is rapidly becoming one of the “must visit” destinations in the city and the new home for hospitality.

Hospitality is rooted in the history of the District. Many locations that were once used as linen warehouses in the 19th century, are now populated with bars and restaurants. To support this sense of place, LQ BID have produced a new history of the Quarter, which has been made available on its website and on Wikipedia. Many people visit the District for its heritage, and the new research helps bring to life its vibrant identity.
Chris continued, “In the space of just three years the Linen Quarter has arrived as an exciting new destination. It is remarkable to see how the historic themes of hospitality, transport and innovation have re-emerged to play a central role within the contemporary Quarter and are just as important now as they were back in 19th century.”
