HLM, a leading design and architecture company with studios in Belfast, has been shortlisted for Employer of the Year in the prestigious Architects Journal AJ100 Awards 2018. HLM is one of 10 practices shortlisted for the award.

Having previously been successfully shortlisted in the regional lists, this is the first time HLM has been recognised nationally.

Success nominees in this category will be judged on staff satisfaction, workplace culture, benefits and staff turnover.

HLM‘s people development efforts are widely known, having previously been selected as the Northern Ireland winner in the highly competitive ‘Commitment to People Development’ category in the British Chamber Business Awards 2017.

HLM emphasised their ‘One Team Culture’, as well as HLM’s values, lifestyle packages, family friendly initiatives and the HLM Academy. The HLM Academy is a professional excellence programme which helps ensure all employees receive training and development opportunities, enabling its team to work to the best of their ability.

Karen Mosley, HLM Managing Director, said, “We are all absolutely delighted to be shortlisted for Employer of the Year in the AJ100 Awards. At HLM, we’re very passionate about maintaining an environment where everyone feels valued and offers opportunity for everyone to flourish. Our culture is driven by a core set of values and this isn’t just about having a set of words on our walls. It’s about our commitment to each other, how we act and interact across every area of our business every day. Creating the right culture, with meaningful benefits leads to greater satisfaction and extraordinary achievements.”

HLM are leading the design of the new Service Support Centre for the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service in Belfast which is due to complete in August this year. They are also continuing design work at Altnagelvin Area Hospital in Derry. They have successfully designed multiple projects across the site over the last 17 years, with the New North Wing and A&E Theatres presently under construction.
